Lady Gaga: Judas record and video rebuked but it does not shock

It is a little difficult to deem anyone to be on the edge or rebellious when the individual likes Elton John, Madonna, Queen, and Michael Jackson. This is the reality of Lady Gaga and simply put, her recent song Judas, which is getting a negative press from some religious quarters, is actually very tame and appears rather callow.
In fact, in the inner-city environment that I come from in England the norm is trance, techno, rap, and similar styles. This is deemed to be streetwise but following the likes of Lady Gaga, Michael Jackson and Elton John would be deemed to be not only “soft” but terribly out of touch.
Therefore, it is abundantly clear that Lady Gaga is chasing the bucks and if she can shock old fashioned or middle class to upper class individuals; then only “fool them.”
In her single called Judas, Lady Gaga sings the following:
In the most Biblical sense,
I am beyond repentance
Fame hooker, prostitute wench, vomits her mind
But in the cultural sense
I just speak in future tense
Judas kiss me if offensed,
Or wear ear condom next time
I wanna love you,
But something’s pulling me away from you
Jesus is my virtue,
Judas is the demon I cling to
I cling to
However, if you look at reality then Lady Gaga is just playing the showbiz game and the people condemning her lyrics should have better things to concentrate on. After all, what is more important; to rebuke her lyrics to the song Judas or to fight against religious persecution in nations like Saudi Arabia?
Whatever Lady Gaga is deemed the fact remains that her fan base is enormous and she is connecting with millions of people who like her music and style.
Also, all in all, her heart is in the right place and this applies to donating and other forms of support to the people of Haiti after the devastating earthquake. Lady Gaga was also shocked by the earthquake and tsunami which struck Japan.
Lady Gaga also campaigns on issues like Aids and HIV awareness and beneath the shock factor you have a lady who cares about important social issues. Therefore, if she wants to upset people who are religious then people in the free world have the right to listen or not to listen and it is that simple.
After all, if you believe that Lady Gaga is not talented then simply do not listen but to complain about her lyrics when you have so many important global issues also seems like a waste of time.
Bill Donohue who is the Catholic League President stated that “This is a stunt… Lady Gaga tries to continue to shock Catholics and Christians in general: she dresses as a nun… she swallows the rosary. She has now morphed into a caricature of herself.”
However, why does Bill Donohue view this issue to be so important? After all, you have so many wars in the world and the persecution of Christians is ongoing in many nations. Alongside this you have important issues like global poverty and it is difficult to understand why he must comment on such a trivial matter?
Lady Gaga will continue to be popular in many nations and individuals who are rebuking her openly are merely helping to publicize her song. Not that she needs added publicity. Therefore, it is better for the clergy to focus on increasing their flock and focusing on real issues.
Lady Gaga understands how to play the media and with no outstanding individuals within the music industry then this is her time to strike it rich.
